  • 2¼ tsp10 gToasted sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp30 gCanola oildivided
  • ½ cup100 gWater
  • 1 tbsp10 gSesame seedstoasted

Steps

  1. Bring a large pot of unsalted water to a boil for the pasta; this cooking water is separate from the measured water for the sauce.
  2. Make the sauce: in a small bowl whisk the tahini, soy sauce, cider vinegar, brown sugar, toasted sesame oil and the measured water until smooth.
  3. Toss the tofu slabs gently with the cornstarch to coat.
  4. Cook the pasta in the boiling water until just tender, then drain and rinse briefly so it stays separate.
  5. Heat half the canola oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the tofu in one layer until golden and crisp, 3 to 4 minutes per side, then move it to a plate.
  6. Add the remaining half of the canola oil to the skillet. Stir-fry the broccoli for 3 minutes, then add the carrot and cook 2 minutes more until crisp-tender.
  7. Push the vegetables aside and add the garlic, ginger, green onion whites and red pepper flakes; stir for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  8. Pour in the sauce, add the pasta and tofu, and toss over the heat for 1 to 2 minutes until the noodles are glossy and coated.
  9. Serve topped with the green onion greens and the toasted sesame seeds.
