Steps
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil for the pasta (this cooking water is extra, not the listed water). Meanwhile slice the bell pepper and red onion, trim the snow peas, mince the garlic, grate the ginger and slice the green onion.
- Make the sauce: whisk the soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, honey, cider vinegar, cornstarch, the listed water and red pepper flakes in a bowl until smooth.
- Cook the pasta in the boiling water until just tender, about 9 minutes. Drain, rinse briefly and set aside.
- Heat half the canola oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add the shrimp in one layer and cook 1 to 2 minutes per side until pink and opaque (145°F, 63°C). Move the shrimp to a plate.
- Add the remaining half of the canola oil to the skillet. Stir-fry the red onion and bell pepper for 3 minutes, then add the snow peas and cook 1 minute more.
- Add the garlic and ginger and stir for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir the sauce, pour it into the skillet and let it bubble until glossy, about 1 minute. Add the pasta and shrimp and toss until coated and hot.
- Serve topped with the sesame seeds and green onion.
