A bright, foamy maple-sweetened espresso stretched with cold water over ice, finished with a silky splash of almond milk and a whisper of nutmeg.

Shaken Maple Iced Americano with Almond Milk

Ingredients

  • 4 shots120 gEspressofreshly brewed, about 4 shots
  • 1 tbsp24 gMaple syrup
  • a pinch0.2 gSalta tiny pinch
  • 1 cup240 gWatervery cold
  • ½ cup (120 ml)120 gAlmond milk, unsweetenedchilled
  • ⅛ tsp0.2 gGround nutmegfreshly grated if possible

Steps

  1. Pantry note: oat milk isn't in the pantry, so this uses almond milk; swap in oat milk if you have it.
  2. Brew the espresso and pour it, still warm, into a jar or cocktail shaker so the syrup dissolves easily.
  3. Add the maple syrup and the salt to the espresso and stir until the syrup dissolves.
  4. Fill the shaker with ice, seal it and shake hard for about 15 seconds, until the maple espresso is cold and foamy on top.
  5. Fill two tall glasses with ice and pour half of the cold water into each glass.
  6. Strain half of the shaken maple espresso into each glass so its foam settles on top of the water.
  7. Slowly pour half of the almond milk into each glass so it swirls through the coffee.
  8. Dust each glass with half of the nutmeg and serve right away.

Contains: Tree nuts.
