- 1 tbsp10 gSesame seedstoasted
- ½ tsp1 gCrushed red pepper
Steps
- Prep first: slice the flank steak, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, yellow onion and green onions; mince the garlic and grate the ginger.
- Toss the flank steak with half the cornstarch and 1 tablespoon of the low-sodium soy sauce; set aside.
- Make the sauce: whisk the remaining low-sodium soy sauce, the water, honey, cider vinegar, toasted sesame oil and the remaining half of the cornstarch in a small bowl.
- Cook the whole-wheat pasta in a pot of boiling unsalted water until just tender, drain, and rinse briefly so it doesn't stick.
- Heat half the canola oil in a large skillet over high heat. Sear the flank steak in a single layer for 1 to 2 minutes per side until browned and it reaches 145°F (63°C); move it to a plate and let it rest 3 minutes.
- Add the remaining half of the canola oil to the skillet. Stir-fry the yellow onion for 2 minutes, then add the red and green bell peppers and cook 3 minutes until crisp-tender.
- Add the garlic, ginger and red pepper flakes and stir 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir the sauce, pour it into the skillet and let it bubble until glossy, about 1 minute. Add the noodles and the flank steak with its juices and toss until coated and hot.
- Serve topped with the green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
