Honey Cinnamon Orange Shaken Espresso

Ingredients

  • 4 shots120 gEspressofreshly brewed
  • 2½ tbsp40 gWater
  • 1 tbsp21 gHoney
  • ¾ tsp2 gGround cinnamon
  • ¼ cup (60 ml)60 gOrange juicechilled
  • ½ cup (120 ml)120 gSparkling water (club soda)chilled
  • ½ tsp2 gVanilla extract

Steps

  1. Make the cinnamon honey syrup first: in a small pot, warm the water, honey and cinnamon over medium heat, stirring, just until the honey dissolves, about 2 minutes. Take it off the heat and stir in the vanilla.
  2. Brew the espresso, then let the espresso and the cinnamon honey syrup cool for about 5 minutes.
  3. Fill a cocktail shaker or lidded jar halfway with ice. Add the espresso, the cinnamon honey syrup and the orange juice.
  4. Seal and shake hard for 15 to 20 seconds, until the outside feels very cold and the espresso turns foamy.
  5. Strain half of the shaken espresso into each of two ice-filled glasses.
  6. Top each glass with half of the chilled sparkling water (club soda), pouring it gently so it stays fizzy, and serve right away.
