Ingredients
- ¼ cup20 gOld-fashioned rolled oats
- 1¾ cups440 gWaterdivided
- ½ tsp1 gGround cinnamon
- 1¾ tsp12 gMaple syrup
- ½ tsp2 gVanilla extract
- 4 shots120 gEspressofreshly brewed, hot
Steps
- Make the oat milk first: blend the oats with about half of the water (cold) for 30 seconds, then strain through a fine sieve or cloth into a small pot, pressing lightly; discard the pulp.
- Whisk the cinnamon and maple syrup into the oat milk in the pot and warm over medium-low heat, whisking, until steaming, about 3 minutes; do not boil, or it will thicken. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla.
- Heat the remaining half of the water until just off the boil (in a kettle or a separate small pot).
- Divide the espresso between two mugs and top each with half of the hot water to make the Americanos.
- Pour half of the warm cinnamon oat milk into each mug, give a quick stir and serve hot.
