- 3 tbsp40 gUnsalted buttermelted and slightly cooled, plus a little for the pan
- 3 tbsp60 gHoney
- ½ cup packed120 gBrown sugarpacked
- 2 large100 gEggsroom temperature
- 1½ tsp6 gVanilla extract
- 1 cup110 gWhole wheat flour
- ½ tsp2 gBaking soda
- ¼ tsp2 gSalt
- 1 tsp2 gGround cardamom

Steps
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Line an 8-inch square pan with parchment, leaving an overhang, and lightly grease it with a little of the butter.
- Melt the remaining butter in a small pan over low heat, then let it cool for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter, tahini, honey and brown sugar until smooth and glossy.
- Whisk in the eggs one at a time, then the vanilla, beating about 1 minute until thick.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the whole wheat flour, baking soda, salt and cardamom together.
- Fold the flour mixture into the tahini mixture with a spatula just until no dry streaks remain; the batter will be thick.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and press the sesame seeds lightly over the top.
- Bake 28 to 32 minutes, until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan on a rack for at least 1 hour so the bars firm up, then lift out by the parchment and cut into 12 bars.
